Google’s Search Engine Optimization

It all comes down to 6 tips and a checklist of things that you shouldn’t do if you want Google to index your web pages.

If you avoid the following things, it will be easier for Google to index your web pages:

1. Things that you should not do in your web page titles
· Do not use web page titles that have no relation to the content on the page.
· Do not use general web page titles such as “Untitled” or “New Page”.
· Do not use the same title for more than one web page.
· Do not use very long titles that do not help your users.
· Do not stuff unnecessary keywords in your title tag.
2. Things that you should not do in your meta tags
· Do not use meta description tags that have no relation to the web page content.
· Do not use general descriptions such as “My web page” or “About kittens”.
· Do not use only keywords in the description.
· Do not copy the entire content of the web page in the meta description tag.
· Do not use the same description tag on more than one web page.
3. Things that you should not do with your URLs
· Do not use lengthy URLs with unnecessary parameters and session IDs.
· Do not overuse keywords in your URL (kittens-cute-kittens-all-about-  kittens.htm).
· Do not use too many sub directories  (../here/there/down/2/buried/deep/down/content.htm).
· Do not use directory names that have no relation to the web page content.
4. Things that you should not do with your website navigation
· Do not show the same content with different domains or sub-domains.
· Do not mix www. and non-www. versions of your URLs in your internal links.
· Do not use capitalization in your URLs.
· Do not link every page of your website to every other page of your website.
· Do not over-segment your web page content. Users should be able to access any content with a few clicks.
· Do not base your entire navigation on drop-down menus or images.
5. Things that you should not do with broken links
· Do not use broken links on your web page.
· Do not block search engines from indexing your 404 not found pages.
· Do not use non-descriptive 404 not found pages. It’s better to use 404 web pages that help your website visitors to find the correct page on your website.
· Do not use a 404 not found web page design that is not consistent with the rest of your website.
6. Things that you should not do with your web page content
· Do not use text with many spelling and grammar errors on your pages.
· Do not embed text in images because search engines cannot read it.
· Do not write text about varying topics on a single page without paragraphs, sub-headings or layout separation.
· Do not copy content from other web pages that has no extra value to your website visitors.
The tips above won’t help you to get high rankings on Google. They only make sure that Google indexes your web pages correctly. If you want to get top rankings on Google, analyze your web pages with IBP’s Top 10 Optimizer.
IBP’s Top 10 Optimizer will check all elements of your web page and it will tell you in plain English what you have to change so that Google will give you a high ranking for your chosen keyword.

To your success…

JANUARY – Tis The Season For A New Year’s Resolution!

January 4th, 2009
Comments Off

January is an excellent time to refocus on health and self issues. Diets, goals setting, and achieving goals are great resolutions, but there are many other goals that people generally proclaim to be their main focal point in January such as:

  • Quit smoking
  • Starting a new and effective exercise program.
  • Eating healthier
  • Going organic or green
  • Setting aside time for daily devotion and/or meditation
  • Going back to school
  • Getting out of debt
  • Blogging
  • Starting an online business

Money and career outlooks fit well during this time of year too. People are generally thinking of starting fresh, new outlook, new hopes and new dreams. Perhaps you could be thinking about starting an online business. What ever you have decided your new year’s goal(s) to be, (and I know you’ve probably heard this before) write it down! And I mean that emphatically. Have you never heard that faith comes by hearing and not by having heard? Then, say this out loud now. Write it down! There is just something that makes this work very effectively when you put your goals to pen and paper. For one thing, it helps you stay focused and on track with what you really want to accomplish. Because Rome wasn’t built in a day… Now, there are many who will pray about it first, and then write it down or vice versa. The point I’m trying to make here is what ever your goal or aspiration is you should start this new year off to a fresh start by praying about it. Prayer changes things. In addition, there is always potential for growth, but it is imperative to write down your goals and objectives. I promise, you will be so glad you did!

I would not have this blog site up and running in such short time if I had not prayed about it and wrote down my goal. Honestly, when I looked at everything I needed to do from a practical standpoint, it seemed too overwhelming. So I broke my goal down into bite size nuggets, and  wrote down each step and where I had the most leverage. That way I could check off my accomplishments as I went along.

My other new year’s resolution is to lose 10 lbs so I can reduce the risk of causing other health issues to creep up down the road. Well, 20 lbs won’t hurt either; that way, I can appear to be skinny, but healthy of course. :-)

My objective is to:

·        Drink lots of water, about 8 or 10 glasses per day to detoxify my body and mind. Even if you don’t have a weight lost goal, research shows that we should drink half our body weight in ounces of water. So divide your weight by 2 and start drinking. It seems like a lot of water to drink at first but your body will adjust very quickly.

·        Exercise daily or at least 3-4 days per week no more than 12-15 minutes intervals. (To read an article explaining why, come back and visit with us.)

·        Keep a positive mindset.

My Questions to you:

1. What is your New Year’s resolution and your leverage?

2. What is your financial goal for this year and your leverage?

(Share with others who could be on the same path with you)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

HOW SOCIAL MARKETING AND BLOGGING CAN HELP YOU SURVIVE THE RECESSION AND BEYOND!

December 24th, 2008

Consumer confidence has dropped, mostly due to concerns over the weakening of business conditions and the job market, according to a survey by the Conference Board.

I’m Vera Powell, and like most people, I’m concerned about how the economic decline in the months ahead could affect my wallet. Well, the point is we’re going to have to make changes on our own, and face tomorrow with a plan. With a strategy in place, you, our families and I WILL survive. Lets think positive and be disciplined. We can begin singing that old familiar song right now, “I WILL SURVIVE.”

Yeah, right Vera, I’ve heard this all before. And you may ask, well what’s in it for you? This brings me to my next case in point. The purpose of this blog and future blogs is to engage in kingdom work. And for anyone who does not relate, please hang in there with me, or shall I say, stand with me a minute. I want to engage in helping thousands prosper during this tough economic time and beyond. Life seems strange and often imponderable. Few people will disagree. But we must press forward with persistency and unwavering spirit. One can put a thousand to flight, but two can put ten thousand…

In addition, I’m seeking to build meaningful and long lasting relationships via social marketing. We have a job to do! So, allow me to propose an idea. One may say that he/she lacks interest in building relationships, social marketing and networking, or any other resources that have economic value. Well, Great! But what about sharing resources that you have or know about with others? We can start by sharing our comments, ideas and opinions, new plans, etc. that have blessed us and will bless others too as we end this year and begin a new year.
