Google’s Search Engine Optimization

It all comes down to 6 tips and a checklist of things that you shouldn’t do if you want Google to index your web pages.

If you avoid the following things, it will be easier for Google to index your web pages:

1. Things that you should not do in your web page titles
· Do not use web page titles that have no relation to the content on the page.
· Do not use general web page titles such as “Untitled” or “New Page”.
· Do not use the same title for more than one web page.
· Do not use very long titles that do not help your users.
· Do not stuff unnecessary keywords in your title tag.
2. Things that you should not do in your meta tags
· Do not use meta description tags that have no relation to the web page content.
· Do not use general descriptions such as “My web page” or “About kittens”.
· Do not use only keywords in the description.
· Do not copy the entire content of the web page in the meta description tag.
· Do not use the same description tag on more than one web page.
3. Things that you should not do with your URLs
· Do not use lengthy URLs with unnecessary parameters and session IDs.
· Do not overuse keywords in your URL (kittens-cute-kittens-all-about-  kittens.htm).
· Do not use too many sub directories  (../here/there/down/2/buried/deep/down/content.htm).
· Do not use directory names that have no relation to the web page content.
4. Things that you should not do with your website navigation
· Do not show the same content with different domains or sub-domains.
· Do not mix www. and non-www. versions of your URLs in your internal links.
· Do not use capitalization in your URLs.
· Do not link every page of your website to every other page of your website.
· Do not over-segment your web page content. Users should be able to access any content with a few clicks.
· Do not base your entire navigation on drop-down menus or images.
5. Things that you should not do with broken links
· Do not use broken links on your web page.
· Do not block search engines from indexing your 404 not found pages.
· Do not use non-descriptive 404 not found pages. It’s better to use 404 web pages that help your website visitors to find the correct page on your website.
· Do not use a 404 not found web page design that is not consistent with the rest of your website.
6. Things that you should not do with your web page content
· Do not use text with many spelling and grammar errors on your pages.
· Do not embed text in images because search engines cannot read it.
· Do not write text about varying topics on a single page without paragraphs, sub-headings or layout separation.
· Do not copy content from other web pages that has no extra value to your website visitors.
The tips above won’t help you to get high rankings on Google. They only make sure that Google indexes your web pages correctly. If you want to get top rankings on Google, analyze your web pages with IBP’s Top 10 Optimizer.

HOW I QUIT SMOKING. REALLY.

January 15th, 2009

In continuing with New Year’s resolutions, “How I quit smoking” testifies to personal experience in the nicotine battle. I think we all would concede that smoking is a serious problem. But who wants to read or talk about that? And since you are still reading, I want to congratulate you. If you are a smoker like I was, and often contemplate the idea of ‘quit smoking,’ then you might also agree that it’s a good thing to read and learn from someone else’s experience. It helps a lot to see what difficulties one went through and how he/she succeeded.

The “how I quit smoking” scenario usually begins with “how it all started.” Most smokers started when they were young, in their twenties and evolved from several cigarettes to a packet or more a day. Almost every ex-smoker that is asked the “How I quit smoking question” will answer something different because of the many alternatives exist to quit smoking from the classical cold turkey method to such methods like hypnosis. “How I quit smoking” is a personal issue for everyone who smokes. But allow me to be honest enough to tell you that anyone can quit smoking. Anyone can break a habit in seven to ten days, once you develop a BURNING DESIRE to quit. Now that could take a little more time.

I have been delivered from smoking for 14 years. Notice I said delivered? Prior to those years, I actually believed I would be a smoker my entire life. Honestly, I thought I loved smoking more than just about anything. Then one day, merely by coincidence, while surfing the TV channels, I heard a preacher by the name of Fred K.C Price say, “…Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your Spirit, which are God’s.” I said, “WOW.” But something inside of me didn’t want to believe that scripture verse was in the Bible. I felt it was too convicting to be true. I wanted to look in the Bible to see for myself. Then he said, go to the book of First Corinthians, chapter 6, verses 19 and 20. And I did. When I confirmed that it was there in the Bible just as he said, it was truly a revelation for me, because even though I had been raised in the church, I had never heard anything so profound like that said about my body and me.

Needless to say, my life began to change. I began to develop a deep desire to quit smoking. Of course, I kept smoking right along as usual, but I also continued reading the Bible, listening to more Christian television out of curiosity to see what else I might hear about me. I also began to listen to Christian radio stations as well, and even started attending church. (Now that’s an interesting story.) Then one day, out of nowhere, I heard a still, audible voice say to me, “This is the day for you to stop smoking.” Then I heard, “If you don’t stop there will be consequences.” Now I know what you may be thinking, but this truly happened, and I have a sound mind today to prove it. That day, I also had two packets of cigarettes in my possession. When I got home from work, I layed down and felt like I wanted to die. I knew I had to obey. That was the most challenging experience I ever had. Every chapter and verse from the Bible I remembered and deposited deep down into my spirit was my only consolation. I knew if I didn’t speak it out of my mouth, I was not going to survive. I could not even compare this to child bearing can you imagine that? Then something occurred to me, that this smoking thing was more than just a habit. Have you ever wondered why it is so very challenging to quit smoking? Before that day, I had never experience one day without smoking in 21 years not one day! So it was a day-by-day revelation of God’s love, grace, mercy and power as I fought the battle to survive. After seven to ten days, as I mentioned before, I was totally set free from smoking. I feel blessed and proud to say I NEVER looked back, and I NEVER had a cigarette craving, or any side effects. I had forgotten that a life without smoking was so awesome and dynamic! I enjoyed food more; I had better nights sleep; and I did not even gain weight. Focus on  replacing  bad habits with good habits.

Reading “How I quit smoking “ success stories can help a lot, but don’t be fooled by those who sell you relaxation tapes, courses or other relaxation treatments. There is other advice that can be found on the Internet, and if you go here http://www.quit-smoking-expert.com you will find more “How I quit smoking “ stories. And if you need more support in your efforts against smoking join some ex-smokers discussion groups or forums. Any person that defeated the smoking habit can answer the “How I quit smoking” question giving you encouraging tips you may need each time you feel like starting to smoke again. Then you may soon be in a position of making the “How I quit smoking” experience a support for others.

Thanks for taking the time to read this blog post. I hope this helps even ONE person.

HAPPY NON-SMOKING, HAPPY NEW YEAR,  AND ENJOY YOUR NEW LIFE!

10 Nutritional Tips To Keep You Lean!

January 3rd, 2009
Comments Off

Perhaps you’ve made a commitment to lose some weight (or to not gain any). To help you reach your goal, nutrition experts have these 10 basic rules to keep you eating on the lean and narrow.

  1. Know how to eat out. Order something you know is low in fat and calories, such as a bowl of soup (clear, not creamy), a turkey sandwich (no cheese or mayonnaise), a salad or broiled fish, go for pizzas with a thinner crust and half the cheese.
  2. Don’t eat on autopilot. Only eat at the table. If you eat in front of the television or over the sink, you’re probably shoveling it in without thinking.
  3. Know what a portion looks like. Eating huge amounts of anything will leave you putting on the pounds. To eyeball what a portion looks like, keep these tips in mind:  a half-cup of pasta is the size of a tennis ball; an ounce of cheese is the size of a golf ball; three ounces of meat is the size of a deck of cards; one cup of beans or cereal is the size of a baseball; an ounce of pretzels will fit in your open, cupped hands; an ounce of nuts will fit in the palm of one hand.
  4. Know the fat traps. Read food labels to find out the fat content of the food you eat. To substitute lower-fat alternatives:  instead of potato chips, candy or cookies from the vending machine, eat pretzels; instead of anything fried, eat food broiled or grilled; instead of whole milk or cheese, eat nonfat frozen yogurt or frozen fruit bars; and instead of creamy salad dressings, eat fat free dressings (or just lemon juice and/or balsamic vinegar).
  5. Choose filling foods. That means foods that are high in fiber, like fruits, vegetables and whole grains; fiber makes you feel fuller longer and helps you eat less.
  6. Count liquid calories. Sodas, juices and sports drinks are all high in calories. Stick with no-calorie drinks like water or plain iced tea.
  7. Know when you’ve had enough. Many people eat beyond fullness to discomfort. Learning to identify when you’re satisfied can pay off with fewer pounds gained.
  8. Don’t use food to feel better. When faced with a stressful situation, don’t turn to foods for solace. Instead, exercise or do some other activity that will take your mind off food.
  9. Don’t give in to a binge. Overindulging just once can easily turn into an entire week of gluttony. Instead, eat a low-calorie snack and wait a few minutes. You’ll find your cravings often disappear.
  10. Never skip breakfast. Not eating breakfast often lead to overeating later in the day.

You can greatly increase your weight loss success by taking the right combination of natural supplements. Make sure your vitamin and mineral supplements have complete antioxidant protection and a free radical reduction rate of over 75%.

To prevent blood sugar spikes, always eat a piece of protein first before eating any of your other food groups.

HELPFUL TIPS ABOUT PERSONAL BLOGGING AND SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING IN 2009!

December 25th, 2008

The variant of the online diary, which we’re all used to calling blog, goes sometimes well beyond the boundaries of simple communication: there are great articles, essays and a lot of interactive stuff that create a very entertaining environment for any Internet user. Furthermore, it is not uncommon to even find future brilliant writers who shape their skill online; it all begins with the regular recording of personal thoughts, ideas, and comments on books, film or music. Personal blogs also allow limitless space for the expression of critical opinions from various domains, not to mention that they preserve a record of one’s development.

Nevertheless, what most Internet experts advise, and I agree, is that one should keep personal and business blogging as separate activities, since mixing them can be detrimental particularly for the special online promotion of some products or services. Many analysts argue that personal blogging is often characterized by an ascending evolution since steady writing develops good thinking and synthesis skills. However, there are a few rules you must follow into making sure that your personal blog is a good, yet trustworthy mirror of yourself.

The first thing you need to work on is the topic of the articles and essays that are responsible for the overall image of the blog. Create topics that you believe to be interesting to your readers and content that would be tantamount to them as well. Take a moment to proofread and spell check for grammar, punctuation, and errors. Include a few substantial links as you go along. Keep in mind that there should be so-called self-censoring when it comes to exposing all sorts of personal details in the pages of your blog. Unfortunately, there have been cases of stalking or stolen identity; keep in mind that you can be personal, without revealing anything from your intimate life. Why this precaution? Because, some of the comments you’ll receive on the blog may truly hurt your feelings and even change your life.

Some bloggers have chosen to limit access to their pages by the use of a digital password, thus, only family and friends are allowed to log in. People actually consider this a good means of protecting their families from possible external threats when the virtual world may overlap with the real one. Things will stay bright as long as you are able to monitor blog content and information quality on a regular basis. The good thing about blog is the fact that you can always go back to a formal entry and make some changes or analyze things from a different perspective and this stays valid for bloggers and users alike.

HOW SOCIAL MARKETING AND BLOGGING CAN HELP YOU SURVIVE THE RECESSION AND BEYOND!

December 24th, 2008

Consumer confidence has dropped, mostly due to concerns over the weakening of business conditions and the job market, according to a survey by the Conference Board.

I’m Vera Powell, and like most people, I’m concerned about how the economic decline in the months ahead could affect my wallet. Well, the point is we’re going to have to make changes on our own, and face tomorrow with a plan. With a strategy in place, you, our families and I WILL survive. Lets think positive and be disciplined. We can begin singing that old familiar song right now, “I WILL SURVIVE.”

Yeah, right Vera, I’ve heard this all before. And you may ask, well what’s in it for you? This brings me to my next case in point. The purpose of this blog and future blogs is to engage in kingdom work. And for anyone who does not relate, please hang in there with me, or shall I say, stand with me a minute. I want to engage in helping thousands prosper during this tough economic time and beyond. Life seems strange and often imponderable. Few people will disagree. But we must press forward with persistency and unwavering spirit. One can put a thousand to flight, but two can put ten thousand…

In addition, I’m seeking to build meaningful and long lasting relationships via social marketing. We have a job to do! So, allow me to propose an idea. One may say that he/she lacks interest in building relationships, social marketing and networking, or any other resources that have economic value. Well, Great! But what about sharing resources that you have or know about with others? We can start by sharing our comments, ideas and opinions, new plans, etc. that have blessed us and will bless others too as we end this year and begin a new year.
